Salford’s MediaCity has opened a new £600,000 content studio to support the region’s digital and creative industries.
Greater Manchester is home to a rapidly-growing £5bn digital ecosystem and MedicaCity, Europe’s largest purpose-built digital hub is home to a wide array of digital, tech and creative businesses including broadcast and media production.
The new content studio has been created to meet the ‘increasing demand’ for high-specification, multi-purpose content production facilities and will take up 8,400 sq ft on the second floor of White Tower,
The content studio has a range of creative spaces, including light, dark, and podcast studios designed for video and stills production, podcasting, photoshoots, castings, experiential media, and more.
MediaCity has also partnered with on-site, independent production companies to ensure users of the content studio will have access to a full suite of professional equipment and expert support.
For companies seeking more space and tech requirements, dock10 next door will provide this to create a ‘full-scale offer’ across MediaCity.
Naomi McCardle, general manager of MediaCity’s new content studio, says: “The creation of the content studio has been an ambitious response to the growing demand from our occupiers for affordable, blank canvas space which supports a range of content creation requests from photo shoot spaces, podcasts, interviews to private collab spaces. We’ve worked closely with our immediate creative community and beyond to deliver exactly what they need.
“It also represents our commitment to nurturing the next generation of digital creators and innovators. By providing the tools, spaces, and inspiration, we’re not just supporting the future of content – we’re empowering it. We’ll be looking to launch mentorship programmes linking those starting out in the industry to potential employers as well as hosting a range of workshops where the community can learn while building contacts.”
Curated by University of Salford alumni, Ashley Salmon and brought to life by Consensus Workspace, the studio has been designed to ‘inspire and empower’ content creators, influencers, social stars, brands and businesses.
Andy Plastow, managing director at Consensus Workspace, adds: “We were thrilled to partner with the team at MediaCity again to design and deliver this inspirational new space. The reimagined floor plate reflects a fresh and modern approach, tailored to meet the evolving needs of content creators and local businesses while enhancing the occupier experience.
“The finished result is an inspiring space which promotes creativity, community and collaboration, which will help occupiers in not only boosting productivity and innovation but in attracting and retaining the best talent.”
