Now in its fifth year, The Greater Manchester Green Summit 2022 will be held at The Lowry Theatre in Salford Quays on Monday 17 October.
Hosted by the Mayor of Greater Manchester and GM LEP Board member Andy Burnham, the Green Summit is a vital event for business leaders as it gives them a chance to connect with policymakers, innovators, and local communities across the city-region and accelerate action against the climate crisis.
Greater Manchester has a five-year environment plan which outlines how the city-region can rise to environmental challenges. The Green Summit brings together voices to find solutions to these challenges.
GM LEP Board Member Steve Connor will also be involved in the Greater Manchester Green Summit, alongside Manchester’s own initiatives The Green Economy, Bee Net Zero and The Energy Innovation Agency.
The event is set to cover updates on protecting and preserving the natural environment, sustainable transport, low carbon energy, low carbon buildings, circular economy, waste and sustainable lifestyles.
The summit will seek input from businesses to help the city-region accelerate action, asking for guidance on local policy, future innovations and individual lifestyle changes.
Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester and host of the GM Green Summit says, “Our focus at this year’s Green Summit must on be delivering the right solutions – such as retrofitting homes so they are more energy efficient and making public transport more affordable – which not only make Greater Manchester a greener place, but will make life fairer and more affordable for our people too.”
Another key part of the event will focus on engaging young people around climate change. There will be a specific youth event strand at The Green Summit, engaging young voices across the region in some of our most pressing issues.
The Green Summit offers a unique opportunity for business leaders across the region determined to drive change to network. Bringing together a range of voices and perspectives will help the city-region to meet its ambitious goal to become carbon neutral by 2038 as well as help local organisations reach their own low carbon goals.
The free event is delivered in collaboration with United Utilities, Bruntwood, SSE Energy Solutions and its official partners include the Environment Agency and Natural Capital Group.
