The GMLEP’s Green Lead, Steve Connor, will host a panel discussion at London Real Estate Forum (LREF) discussing Manchester’s plans for a green future.
The session will explore how net-zero investment in city-regions can secure economic prosperity and boost living standards for all.
LREF will take place at London’s Barbican Centre on Wednesday 28 September and Thursday 29 September. The second day will feature tours around some of London’s key developments.
Greater Manchester’s session Greater Manchester: Enabling agents of change for zero-carbon cities will be hosted at 10.45 am on Wednesday 28 September.
Representatives from Transport for Greater Manchester, Manchester City Council, Salford City Council, Civic Engineers and Trilogy Property will join the panel to discuss how national government, local authorities and private sector developers can collaborate to transform cities into inclusive, zero carbon communities of the future.
Panellists include Rebecca Heron, Strategic Director of Development at Manchester City Council, John Searle, Strategic Director of Place at Salford City Council, Vernon Everitt, Transport Commissioner for Greater Manchester, May Molteno, Head of Sustainability and Stakeholder Engagement at Trilogy Property and Stephen O’Malley, Chief Executive at Civic Engineers.
Greater Manchester’s representatives will discuss individual projects that will help to create the blueprint for a connected, green and accessible city-region, showcasing how Greater Manchester is leading the way. However, they will also discuss any challenges and extra support needed to make this a reality.
By showcasing how the city-region is proactively planning for urban transition and investing in low-carbon transport, clean energy and new green spaces alongside, Greater Manchester hopes to engage businesses and investors in net-zero futures. It’s hoped that this investment will play a role creating equal opportunities for Greater Manchester residents and reducing carbon emissions.
LREF is the perfect platform to discuss Greater Manchester’s vision for the future.
Not only is this year’s conference focused on sustainable development, an area which Greater Manchester is already pioneering, but it also brings together investors, local authorities, and leading business names across sectors.
Over 530 companies have confirmed attendance at the conference and 67% of the delegation are director level and above, therefore LREF offers Greater Manchester a significant platform to position itself as a leading city-region of the future.
It’s hoped that the conference will not only promote fresh ideas but also facilitate introductions and conversations that could drive investment into the city region and contribute to net zero targets.
